Vacations Are Good For the Soul...Bad For the Mind?

My vacation last week in Charleston was exactly what I needed to clear my head after graduation. It was spent with great friends, fabulous food, no worries, and plenty of sun.

It was probably one of the best vacations I have ever taken because it was so relaxing and cleansing. It was absolutely perfect.

I have been so confused since I got back. When I found out yesterday was Wednesday, it all started to make sense...I was a day behind for A WEEK. A whole week.

I still haven't completely caught up because I keep thinking today is Wednesday, but's Thursday! I seriously went a whole week without a clue as to what day it was!

I have an interview coming up soon so I need to get it together before then...I would hate to miss it because my brain is a day behind.

Okay, so today is Thursday. Thursday! I must remember this.

Graduation, Finally

Well, Rachel is hounding me to get more blog posts up, so here goes.

Side Note: I was blogging every single day during my last couple months as a college student, even during finals week. I always had something to write about and could find time to write it...while procrastinating studying. Now that I'm FINISHED with college and have no more studying and papers and projects.....I haven't posted a single update aside from the 2, short, Hangout Fest updates. Hmm.

My family, since my father passed away when I was young, is just my mommy and my sisser. They, together, helped shape me into the person I am today...the awesome person I am today. Though I like to claim I'm independent, and I am, I wouldn't be where I am today without them.

Most of my dad's family lives in Texas (my mom's too), so we have made many a trip to Texas for Christmases, Thanksgivings, Summers, Cotton Bowls, etc. So, I was super excited to finally have some of my Texas family come to Mississippi!

My dad's brothers, Uncle Roger and Uncle Stevie made the trip to Oxford for graduation weekend!

Friday night we had dinner reservations at my favorite restaurant on the square.

The food was great, the wine was great, the company was great. It was a real treat to have my uncles in Oxford and to have them see the beautiful Oxford square.

Saturday. Graduation day.

I woke up and got ready just like it was any other day. Shouldn't I be nervous? I wasn't nervous at all, and that kind of made me nervous. It was such a great feeling to wake up with my family in Oxford with me for the big day.

Holls and G met me at the Union to get in line for the morning ceremony. I met Holly early freshman year and we have been close every step of the way, so I couldn't have imagined going through graduation without her...and there's never a dull moment with George, so being with them for this ceremony was perfect! (Especially since G was supposed to walk with the Liberal Arts folks and we got him to sit with the cool BSchool kids.)

The speakers were really cheesy and great.

Stand tall. Be proud. You are Ole Miss.

I loved it.

Afterward, I saw a few people, took a few pictures, and then made a mad dash to the Tad Pad with Holly after stopping to get a snack.

The Business School graduation was a success. It took a really long time, and of course I was in the next to last #630. But. I had a fun time with my friends. I was texting the entire time, of course.

After graduation and some naps, I took the Uncles to Pontotoc to see where Morgan and I grew up.

I have a feeling that before this visit, they were convinced that "Pontotoc, Mississippi" was a mythical place.

I had a low-key, delicious graduation dinner prepared by the best cook I know.

It's weird to think that my four years here at Ole Miss were concluded in one day. Two ceremonies, lots of friends friends, a few pictures...and it's over. That's it. I'm finished with college.

Hello next step.

The Hangout - OK Go

I spent the weekend at the Hangout Music Festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama. And boy, it was amazing. To save you the trouble of reading it all and being extremely jealous, I won't talk about seeing The Black Crowes, Girl Talk, The Whigs, Gov't Mule, Ben Harper, Ray LaMontagne, Trey Anastasio, Matisyahu, and more..... I'll just talk about my favorite show of the weekend

Okay, well...first of all. Sunday almost got rained out. I don't believe Keller Williams ever got to play and Matisyahu was moved from 2:30 on the beach to 11:30 in a VIP only concert in The Hangout bar (yes, I was there). The rain was crazy, it just wouldn't stop. But it didn't stop us.

(Trinity was born to be on camera.)

Anyway, so. Ok Go was pushed back an hour. We got there about 2 hours early and got a good spot front and center.

They gave off such good vibes and played most of my favorite

Get Over It

Here It Goes Again

But, also. Damian jumped down into the crowd to play a little acoustic bit for everyone. I was front and center when he jumped down, but I scurried behind him to the middle of the crowd and was right next to him.

This picture: not zoomed in at all.

When they started to play This Too Shall Pass, I moved back from the front so I could get a good video.

Of course he would jump into the crowd again right where I was right after I left. But, really, at this point...I didn't care.

Seriously, one of the best concerts I have ever seen. I'm still elated from the experience

hanging out at the hangout

So. I'm at the Hangout Music Fest in Gulf Shores, Alabama for the weekend. Perfection. Beach. Booze. Bands.

Last night I saw the Black Crowes and Girl Talk. Can we say WOWZA?!?! It was my first time to see Girl Talk live and holy. crap. It. Was. AMAZING. So much fun. I keep forgetting I kind of have a fractured ankle though; too much jumping took place. So my ankle is kind of mad at me today.

I've been on the beach all day and in a little while I'm heading over to see the Whigs. And then Gov't Mule, Moon Taxi, Jakob Dylan, John Legend, and more!

And even better bands tomorrow. Yayuhhhh.

Best weekend everrrr. Or. Well. Close to the top.

Are you jealous?

Oh hey I'm blogging this FROM THE BEACH.

Jealous now?

Yeah. Thought so.

College Students and "Study Aids"

If I make it through the next four days, I will have gone FOUR years in college without using a single "study aid". Four years of reading, highlighting, designing, programming...all without the help of a very popular prescription drug.

Oh, hey. By the way, I'm not bragging. I'm complaining! What was I thinking? I'm the queen of procrastination, hence why I am writing this blog instead of studying for my cumulative Economics final that begins at 8am or putting together my final Literature portfolio that consists of roughly 30 pages and is due at 8am the next day.

I throw myself into my schoolwork at the very last minute possible and somehow seem to (most of the time) get it all done. But that's not the way I should have been doing it these past four years. It puts so much stress on me to have to deal with crunch time. But. I guess it's too late now.

Okay, off to study and work on my papers. Hopefully.

Anybody got any adderall?

Just kidding.
