Coolest College Town

I talk about my love for Oxford, MS a whole lot. Many of you have probably never been to Oxford, so you don't quite get it. Well Travel & Leisure gets it. Just check out this list of America's Coolest College Towns. What's the first one listed? Oxford.

But that's still not enough proof. The proof is in the air, in the smiles of the people you pass on the sidewalks. It's in the old buildings, the green grass, the football fans. The proof is in the art, the food, the music, in DJ Mario's playlist at the Library Sports Bar.

It's everywhere.

Words can't capture just how perfect this little town is, so you come see it for yourself.

I'll meet you on the Square.

[Side note: My Weekend will rock.]

I'm outta here. I'm taking a mini-vacay this weekend to see two very important people.

Harry Potter & Britney Spears*

The details:

I'm leaving work at 1:00 today and driving to best friend Brad's house in Biloxi. [Side note: The air conditioning in my car is broken, so it's in the shop. My sweet sister is letting me borrow her car. What a blessing in disguise that I won't be driving the gas guzzler.] Once I get to Brad's, we're eating dinner, drinking wine (most likely out of a box), and watching Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows Part 1 (because I still haven't seen it). Then...HP7 Part 2 premiere at midnight! [Side note: No, I will not be dressing up. However, if I did, I would dress as Bellatrix Lestrange.]

Tomorrow, we're headed to NOLA! During the day we'll be shopping and drinking and whatnot.'s Nicki Minaj and Britney Spears! [Side note: I don't even really like Nicki. Sorry.] After the concert, we'll be out dancing, of course (most likely at the gay bars).

The rest of the weekend is a mystery to me, but it will be nothing short of amazing. And I'm not returning to work until Tuesday!

Don't be jealous. [Side note: Be jealous.]

*I would give Michael more credit for photoshopping the picture, had this not been his first attempt at it.

The In Betweens

Image via we heart it

Whenever I discuss my dating history, I only mention the big parts. High school boyfriend, dated for over three years. First college boyfriend, dated off & on for 9 months. Last college boyfriend, dated for a year and a half.

I always forget about the in betweens. The in betweens are an important part of one's dating history, too. It could be one date, one conversation, one moment that changes someone from an in between to a big part.

I've had quite a few in betweens. The other boy I dated in high school, the perfect guy I broke up with to get back with first college bf, the boy from the lake house, the guy I met in class, the ex's best friend...just to name a few.

In one weekend, SIX former in betweens all contacted me. The one from the cover band, the one that's always kinda there but never really there, the one I just recently met that didn't go anywhere, the one that never wanted to actually take me out, the other one that never wanted to actually take me out, and the not-so-romantic summer romance. Some of these guys I hadn't spoken to in weeks, some months, others years!

In betweens don't become big parts for a reason. Hopefully I can remember all six reasons before I decide revisit the past and have to learn the lessons all over again.

To My Mother

To the woman who birthed me, raised me, helped me to become the person I am today...

To the woman who always french braided my hair too tight and didn't allow me to get it cut until I was 12...

To the woman who was there for me, fought with me, fought for me, challenged me, and loved me...

To the woman who cooked me fried chicken, cabbage rolls, and roast upon request...

And most importantly, to the woman who first introduced me to 90s alternative music...when I was four.

To my mother.

Happy birthday!

Happy July!

Ah, July. The best month of Summer. Weekends at the pool. Weeknights on the Burgundy Room balcony. Cookouts. Cornhole. Boat trips. Beer. Lots of beer.

Happy July!

Remember in April when I started a "30 Day Challenge"? Let's get back to that.

Day 23:

7 more days left in this challenge. My goal is to finish it in July!
