My Perfect Life

After watching it twice this month, I have decided that the movie Pearl Harbor depicts my perfect life. Well, minus the whole war and bombing and people dying and stuff.

You live in Hawaii. You end up with Ben Affleck...but you still get to bang Josh Hartnett.

Where do I sign up?

If you didn't know, Ben Affleck is my absolute #1 celebrity crush/dream guy/perfection.

I absolutely love him. And Josh Hartnett is kinda dreamy, too.

He is the star of one of my favorite movies. Wicker Park. Way underrated. And it has the only soundtrack (check it out) that beats the Garden State soundtrack.

Now go watch it.

How Do You Stay Beautiful?

I often get asked, "Faye...how do you stay so beautiful?"

Well, actually...it was once. By an 80 year old man in a dimly lit bar. And his exact words were, "You have really nice breasts." Details.

I'm getting on up there in years. I'm two years away from being halfway to 50. So it's about time to step up my beauty regimen. I need to add some eye creams and moisturizers and all that old people stuff. And mousse and hairspray (I don't even know how to use that stuff).

My current beauty regimen consists of the following products...

For my face, I use
Dove bar soap

For my body, I use

Dove bar soap

unless I'm feeling sassy, then I use

Dove body wash

For my hair, I use

Dove 2 in 1 Shampoo + Conditioner

unless I'm feeling sassy, then it's

Dove Shampoo & Conditioner separately

then there's

and

and

because Dove doesn't make a perfume

Sometimes I wear makeup. And that's that.

Oh hey, Dove...how's about you buy some advertising space? Cause I love you.

But in all seriousness, I need to up my knowledge of beauty products.

What are your must haves?

Cmon and Talk to Me

First and foremost, a friend (Beth) posted this video on her Facebook today. 57 minutes ago to be exact. I have listened to it five times. By the time I post this, that number will have gone up by at least two. Listen and love, my friends. He kind of reminds me of G. Love and I love it. Seriously. Amazing.

Now, you should see a new feature in my sidebar -- "Faye's Current Book". I got the idea from Ainsley's "On the Nightstand". I'm hoping it will encourage me to read more. (The current book was part of my graduation present from my good friend Benny. It's not that I'm just now getting around to reading it...it's that he just now gave it to me. Slacker.) If you have book suggestions, send them my way! I'm always looking for new books to read. A long time ago I wrote about my favorite books...check that out here.

Last night, I was peer pressured into going to the bar after I got off work at 10pm. I wore a t-shirt. That doesn't happen in Oxford. And I was reminded of that as soon as I stepped into the Library and saw dresses, heels, and sequins everywhere. But I had fun and we took lots of cell phone pictures.

Today, my fabulous workout partner is a year older. (Well, really just a day older...but you know what I mean.) Okay, that was stupid and cheesy. But I'm too lazy to backspace. So yes. It is Cholo's birthday. So, I'm going to post his P90X Day 30ish photo. That's my version of a birthday spanking. Happy birthday Charles!

American Idol. Who watches? Cause I don't. I watched one season. And it was because I just so happened to be walking through the living room while it was on when Chris Daughtry was auditioning. I liked him. A lot. So I watched. Until he left. I don't even know who won that season. I do know that he is now a sellout and I don't really like his music anymore. But anyway, my point. I've had many people tell me I need to be watching this season because it's "so good". I also got an influx of "omg you have to watch this performance" after that guy covered Nirvana. I did. I watched. And I watched another guy cover Ryan Adams. And they were both...not great. I would say awful but I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. (But they were awful.) I know it's hard to like someone if the original is unbeatable. But the original is unbeatable. I hate Nirvana covers. Hate them. I'm sure Kurt would, too. So stop it. Just stop it. (Okay, I actually kind of liked one. Just this one.) But American Idol should not have access to Nirvana. What the hell Courtney Love? What are you thinking? (You know, since she controls most of the rights to their music instead of the other members...ugh.)

Okay, my rant is over. I basically just meant to say...I don't like American Idol.

It's Friday. (Friday. Gotta get down on Friday.) And I'm looking forward to a rather low key weekend. Because next weekend will be insanely busy.

What are your weekend plans?

Could I have put any more links in this post? It could use another? Okay, then go here. Or here. You won't regret either. Trust me. Or, watch this. You won't regret that, either.

There Are Things I Don't Understand

Surprisingly, this is true. There are many things I don't understand. I don't understand Quantum Physics. I don't understand Zeon's Paradoxes. I don't understand the Fibonacci Sequence or the Eulerian Cycle or where babies come from. Okay -- I do understand the last one.

But there are other things, too. More simple things.

I don't understand...

...why some people (ahem...women) don't flush the toilet. Sickos.

...people who wave for you to go first at a four-way stop. If you stopped first, go first. You're not being polite, you're just screwing up the system.

...silly bands. Sorry. I just don't get it.

...why guys spit in the toilet and don't flush it. Spit in the sink. Or flush the toilet. Grossies.

...the obsession with Lady Gaga. (It's Britney, bitch.)

...people who don't have Facebook. Come on guys.

...adult braces.

...why Pandora doesn't know exactly what I want to hear at all times. So what if Eminem, Hanson, and Marilyn Manson don't sound anything alike...I want a mix!

...Alabama fans.

...how to tell if chicken is done without cutting into it.

...why some people don't straighten their tires when they park.

...people who listen to their iPods everywhere they go.

...people who think Cheetos are gross. (They're delicious!)

...country music.

...rap music (other than Eminem...and Plies).

..."modern aged" women who get married and don't take their husband's last name.

I could go on for days. But you're probably bored with this. I know I am. What are some things that you just don't understand?

A Wake in the Current

Two students from Ole Miss and two from LSU are about to set out on a mission to raise awareness (and money) for two ministries: ICM in Oxford, Mississippi and The Gardere Community Christian School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Well, I already think they've accomplished a miracle. Who knew Ole Miss and LSU students could be friends? Amazing, guys.

These 4 guys will spend their summer kayaking the Mississippi River. Yes, the entire Mississippi River. They will be "roughing" it -- committing to a life of simplicity, endurance, and humility -- for their cause.

Learn more about their trip and find out how you can be a WAKE as well (e.g., donate).

A Slap of Realization

I'm blunt. I drink. I cuss. I kiss boys...in public. (Oops.) I don't hold back. I tell it like it is. I'm a bitch (there's that cussing, for example).

That's me. That's my personality. But there's so much more to me that I keep forgetting about. So much more that I put on the back burner. I probably shouldn't do that.

When did this realization occur? I was talking to a friend about a boy I think is cute (of course). Actually, I have picked out the guy that is absolute perfection in my eyes. I hope that one day I will meet/date/fall in love with/marry/have kids with a guy that is half as cute/talented/kind/awesome as this guy. Or maybe the actual guy. Whatever. Not my point.

When I was telling friend about guy, friend said,

"Isn't he like really Jesusy?"

Boom. There it is. That hurt. Why would someone being "Jesusy" deter me from being interested? That's a pro, not a con. Hey guys, I'm a Christian. I definitely don't talk about it enough (or at all) and I feel extremely guilty about that.

Now, this realization is really just something I need to work on with myself. I'm not going to quit the blog to become a Christian novelist or start shoving Bible verses in your faces. I just felt like I needed to share this realization with you all.

My dear friend Rachel @ {simple.little.joys} said it best when she wrote a letter to her future husband.

"Above all, I pray that you are a Godly man."

I do too, Rachel. Maybe our future husbands are friends. If they aren't now, they will be once they meet us!

I know everyone has missteps in life and often get off track with their faith, but this just hit me pretty hard. Through prayer, my sweet friends (I'm really lookin' at you, Rachel), and any of you out there in Blog world that care to give encouragement...I'll be back on track before you know it.

Pretty Little Liars...Really Hot Guys

Now that the Bachelor is over...I have time to talk about my true Monday night passion.
Pretty Little Liars.

Just like the Bachelor, I protested watching the show at first. I thought it was stupid and I didn't want to waste my time with it. Well, I'm glad I gave it a shot.

A show about murder, mystery, secrets, and lies...it's only slightly less dramatic than the Bachelor...but with hotter guys and better clothes.

Not only do we have Toby Cavanaugh and Ezra Fitz...

But hello Caleb. Toby (the old "bad boy") was of course, my favorite until we got a new bad boy. Caleb. I don't even know his last name. But I do know that he is perfect. (It's Rivers in case you were wondering. I just looked it up.)

Tan. Long hair. Bad boy persona. But sweet. Grunge-ish clothes. Where's Michael Anthony Hall? Because somebody obviously made this boy just for me. (That was a Weird Science reference, kids.)

What Do You Say?

I've never been good with cliche things to say. I can't console you when you get dumped. I can't make you feel better when you fail at something. And I sure as hell don't know what to say when you lose someone close to you.

I lost my father when I was three years old. I never really got to know him and I still miss him every day. I have memories of him, but they don't really go past him picking me up and consoling me after I did yet another thing to earn my nickname of BooBoo.

I miss him every single day. But, still, I could never find the right words to say to a friend who just lost a parent. I think, because...there are no right words. It just sucks.

My good friend just lost his father after he underwent a bone marrow transplant in December. I haven't found words that will be of any help, so if you know any...send them my way.

I never met his father, but I know he was a great man...because his son is a great man. He is, hands down, one of my favorite people I've ever met. And I've met a lot of people. Not many of them are as funny, as kind, and as easy to talk to a Christopher.

So, today. Send your thoughts and prayers his way. He and his family need them during this time of sadness.

My Montage Song

It's after 5pm and I'm still at work. Why? Because for the next 20 some odd days (and hopefully no longer), I have a new work schedule.

My old schedule was 8-5 Monday thru Thursday and 8-6 on Friday. We had to switch some things around at the office because we've lost someone for a month. So. Now. My work schedule...sucks (for lack of a better word without getting too vulgar).

Monday/Wednesday I'll be in the office from 12-9. Tuesday/Thursday from 1-10. Friday, still 8-6. Misery.

Which brings me to my montage song. A while back, I was reading Ainsley's blog and she asked,

"If life had background music, what song would play when you made your big entrance into a room?"

I've been pondering that question ever since.

Then today, Brad and I were discussing what song would play over a montage of happy moments from our lives.

Well Ladies and Gents...I have discovered my montage song. I listen to it every day and it never fails to put me in a good mood. I am currently blaring it in the empty office as I sit here alone (and do work write this blog post).

Here you go. My montage song.

What's your montage song?

Want It Wednesday

This week on Want It Wednesday (said in the soap opera "previously on" voice)...

What do I want? Well, other than..

this dress

this loft

a raise at work

or a new job

the weather to get (and stay) warm

a spring break

and

a beer (right now)

I want adventure.

I haven't done anything adventurous (unless you count walking down Bourbon Street) in a while. A few years ago I hiked Half Dome in California.

See that peak in the top right corner? Yeah, I stood up there. So what if I had tears in my eyes the whole way up the cables? I made it to the top.

And it has been way too long. I want to go back. Or somewhere else. I need some adventure.

Cue adventurous video that inspired this blog post:

That is the second highest bungy in the world. Yes, world. (Or so the caption of the video says. Hey, I'm a "believe everything I read" type of girl.)

Check out Campbell's other videos on his youtube page.

And let me know when you want to go bungy jumping/sky diving/hiking. I'm in!

I Gave My Number to the Wrong Foreign Guy

Last weekend (same as every other) I went out to the bar with some friends. But this night was different. I had a goal. A goal to flirt with a certain (and certainly attractive) foreign guy.

Well, I did give my number to a foreign guy...but it was the wrong foreign guy. As I was planning my attack, this guy came up out of nowhere. I think his name was Kabuki (or maybe I was just craving fried rice and sushi as I half listened to the summary of his life story, told him, no I hate the Dallas Cowboys because my grandfather hated the Dallas Cowboys, and said, yes you can have my number.) Important Note: It is easy to get my phone number. I don't really care who has it. So, if you ask for my number and I give it to you -- don't be flattered...it doesn't mean I'm going to answer. Just ask my mom. Hell, ask Chris Lambton. I never answer the phone. Anyway. Once I got rid of Kabuki, it was game on.

Now, let me back up for a minute. I've never actually talked to this guy. But we have mutual friends. And not just Facebook mutual friends (though we do have nearly 50 of those). We have real life mutual friends. We've had some interaction...wall posts, a brief Facebook chat, and a few likes and comments. But we've never spoken.

Correction: We had never spoken.

I spotted him (okay, so I'd had my eye on him since he walked in the door). He was standing near some of my friends. Perfect placement. As I walked toward the friends, we made eye contact. And then...it happened. He said, "hey." We talked. It was magical!* I said hey back but kept walking. Playing hard to get, you know. (Actually, I couldn't manage to get anything else out. Another [awkward pause] moment, if you will.)

Maybe this weekend. Then before you know it, I'll be packing my bags for our move to Sweden, right? Wait, is that too fast?

*sarcasm, bitches.
