Be Thankful Thursday (and every day)

I'm sure many of you heard about the storms that tore through the South yesterday. I spent a couple hours of my work day locked in the basement sitting at a little kid's cafeteria table with 40ish adults all watching the weather on our laptops and cell phones. Once the worst of it was past Oxford, I went back up to my office to see this:

The beautiful sunshine was back in Oxford. There was minimal damage and everyone I knew was safe.

Tuscaloosa didn't get so lucky.

I'm not sure how extensive the damage is...or how high the death toll, but it sure doesn't look pretty.

Please keep everyone who was affected by the storms in your thoughts and prayers. And be thankful every single day...because, well, you just never know.

The Office Blues

As I'm sitting in my office, working on monotonous tasks, I take a break to finally watch the new Billy & Adam a.k.a. Snakes music video. Boys, you took the words right out of my mouth.

Adulthood cannot be stopped...but it can be delayed.

Who wants to go back to Grad School with me? I'm gonna need a study partner.

Apparently I'm a Slut

According to Men's Health and my musical tastes...I am most likely to have sex on the first date.

The unscientific survey from Tastebuds.fm looked into users' favorite artists compared with how far they would go on a first date. They ranked the 5 artists that make one "least likely to have sex on the first date" and the 5 artists that mean you're "most likely to have sex on the first date". As Men's Health puts it...

"Tastebuds determined that Coldplay fans don't put out, while Nirvana fans are the easiest of them all."

You guys know me, right? Who is my least favorite band of all time? Coldplay.
And my favorite band? Nirvana.

There you have it ladies and gentlemen (actually, just gentlemen, please)... I'm a slut.

Nirvana as Punishment?

My friend, Lindsay, and I were eating at a little bakery in town the other day that we frequent. She likes the croissants. I like the waiter.

Linds doesn't appreciate my eclectic taste in men and this conversation occurred:

L: Seriously? Look at that hair. You want your kids to have long, nappy hair?
F: Pretty sure hair length isn't hereditary. It's a choice. And yes.
L: Your kids are gonna be so preppy...just to piss you off.
F: And then they'll get sent to their room to listen to Nirvana.

I won't really use Nirvana as a punishment and I won't really make my son(s) have long hair if they don't want it. But it's just so cute!

Kingston Rossdale

Do you like long hair on guys? It's my favorite!

Springtime At Ole Miss

As if I haven't said this enough...Oxford, Mississippi is my favorite place on Earth. If you've never visited, you just don't get it. (So come visit.) There's no way to describe the beauty of this place; it's magical. Not just the beauty, but the atmosphere. The feeling that is Ole Miss. Walking through campus and on the historic Oxford Square, you feel the remnants of the beautiful Old South that linger in the air.

I don't plan to live in Mississippi forever, but I've already decided that my first vacation home will be a condo in Oxford. Football weekends, baseball weekends, Double Decker...I'll be here as often as possible!

Love and Hate

I wanted to do these two days together because they're all about love and hate.

Day 11:

A photo of something you hate.

A song from your favorite band.

Day 12:

A photo of something you love.

A song from a band you hate.

Love and hate are such strong words. But I really do hate English peas and Coldplay.

Childhood

I watched The Princess Bride for the first time last night. Yes, the first time ever.

I know, I know...you're thinking, "What kind of childhood did you have?"
I wasn't really into princesses and fairy tales (although it's not your typical fairy tale). I was into music. Grunge music.

Today marks the 17th anniversary of my first heartbreak, the day Kurt Cobain's death was announced to the world. Read my story from last year here.

My Favorites

I got to see my favorites last night.

Fyi, Chris (bottom right) joined my favorites last night with the line, "Hi, we're Facebook friends." Nothin' like being reminded how creepy this day and age is.

The night was perfect. Ingram Hill, Sister Hazel, good friends, good music, and especially, free drinks.

The only downer of the night was that Rachel wasn't there! She's my concert buddy...especially for Ingram Hill concerts. The only problem is we just might happen to have huge crushes on the two guys that stand on opposite sides of the stage, so we always argue over where to stand. And I always win. Stage right it is.

If you don't know Ingram Hill...why haven't you been reading my blog? go check them out at their website, youtube page, and facebook!

Challenges Day 7:

A song that reminds you of a certain event.

Keep On Dancin'

...Till the World Ends!

Well, it's here. Britney's new video. I kind of love it. I really love it, in fact. It reminds me of the very best Britney video (in my opinion)...

And yes, I will keep on dancing till the world ends. And by dancing, I mainly mean doing Britney hair flips. I'm so good at them.

And speaking of Britney, it's challenge time. Day 6:

A photo of a person you'd love to trade places with for a day.

A song that reminds you of somewhere.

The Day Seattle Died

I'm pretty sure I posted this exact same thing last year. And I will continue to post it every year for as long as I have a blog.

My two favorite artists of all time both died on the same day. This day.

Kurt Cobain
February 20, 1967 - April 5, 1994

Layne Staley
August 22, 1967 - April 5, 2002

And now, Cold's tribute to the two best artists to ever come out of Seattle.
Rest in Peace Kurt and Layne.
