Kentucky Bourbon

This weekend, I traveled to a small town in Kentucky to witness the marriage of my lovely friends, Matthew and Lizzie.

These two are, hands down, one of my favorite couples ever.

The ceremony was beautiful, the reception was fun, and the bourbon was strong.

I might have had a little too much.

Well, you know what they say. When in Rome Kentucky.

Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Hall!!

Father's Day

They tell me I look and act just like him.

It really is a bittersweet thing to hear.

I love my father and am proud to be so much like him...

or so they say.

I'm jealous of them because they got to know him and I didn't.

My father passed away when I was young. Aside from a few fuzzy memories, pictures, keepsakes, and their stories...I don't have much to go on.

But hey, if I act like him, he must have been pretty cool.

Whether you get to see your father this weekend or not...
appreciate him, love him, and tell him

Happy Father's Day.

Wedding Season

Wedding season, for me, started last weekend when Whitney & Stephen tied the knot in Hattiesburg, MS.

The wedding was beautiful and the reception was so fun. I got to catch up with old friends, eat fabulous food, drink free booze, and dance with the second cutest guy there (cause the cutest was the father of the bride).

This weekend Moni & Stu get hitched in Fort Morgan, AL. Sadly, I cannot attend, but I'll be there in spirit. I'm already jealous of everyone who's on the beach.

The next weekend, we'll be traveling up to Mt. Sterling, KY for Lizzie & Matthew's wedding. (With a pit stop in Nashville for a night!)

Then, 3 weekends later, we get to celebrate Lindsay & Nathan right here in Oxford, MS.

I love wedding season.

5 Love Languages

Have you heard of the 5 love languages? I hadn't until it came up in a conversation with friends. Basically, people give & receive love in different ways. And not just love love. It applies to family love and friend love and maybe even puppy love.

The love language assessment tells you which language makes you feel most loved. Sister's assessment revealed that she's a Words of Affirmation lover. Totally. She often uses the "Tell me you love me. Tell me something romantic." line from Serendipity. Cheese.

We discussed a few of the other languages -- Quality Time & Physical Touch. No thanks. I decided my love language was probably Let's Just Know We Love Each Other. You Don't Have To Tell Me Or Touch Me

But because that isn't one of the 5 languages, I decided to take the assessment to find out. Each category is rated out of 12 (and you should only have 1-2 high categories).

Quality Time (10)
Acts of Service (8)
Words of Affirmation (5)
Physical Touch (4)
Receiving Gifts (3)

So, surprisingly enough, I do like being around people. As long as they don't tell me, touch me, or buy me things. Sounds about right.

What's your love language?

Take the assessment here.

Thursday Thoughts

Damn, I'm boring these days. But hopefully I'll be back with actual thoughts next week. Hopefully.

Have you guys heard John Mayer's new album? I love it. Aside from one song.

"Love is a Verb" now sits on the same shelf as "Comfortable", "Daughters", and "Your Body is a Wonderland". That shelf is titled "Worst Songs Ever" and also includes "Sparks" by Coldplay.

Speaking of "Sparks" by Coldplay -- I'm doing a 30 day song challenge on Facebook. (Yesterday's prompt was "least favorite song" and that's the one I chose.) Like Faye'sbook on Facebook to follow along!

A while back, I raided my mom's record collection. The plan was to frame the album covers and decorate with them. But then I realized how much good music I would be putting to waste. So now the hunt is on for a good record player. Tips?

Young the Giant is playing in Memphis tonight. I want to go. I saw them at the Hangout and they were AWESOME and I want to see them again. But it will be a last minute decision if I go or not.

THE FLAMING LIPS are attempting to break a world record (held by Jay-Z) by performing EIGHT shows in a 24 hour period. One of those shows is in Oxford. So you bet your ass I'm gonna be there.

And by sports, I mean tennis.

Once a major reaches the semis, I always bet with a coworker of mine. Loser buys lunch. So 3 lunches are at stake. I picked Federer over Djokovic and Ferrer over Nadal. Both the underdog, but I have faith. After those matches, there will be two lunches in the bank (unless we each win one). Then we'll bet again on the Championship. I'm going Federer over Ferrer. Because I'm gonna win all 3.

That is all. I'll try to be more put together next week. See you then!
