Bachelorette: Overnights

Well, I was right.

Brooks wasn't ready to propose after 9 weeks of "dating", so he left. If I was the Bachelorette, I wouldn't want a proposal at the end. I'd want a, "So I'd like to keep dating you." "Okay, good, me too. Here's your rose, let's go grab a beer." Is it in your contract somewhere that if you're chosen you have to propose or you have to break up? Why can't there be an in between?

Anyway. Now, Des needs to end up with Chris. They are perfect.

I could only find kissing pictures. Of course.

And what do we do with Drew? I am not on board with him becoming the next Bachelor. For one, I haven't applied yet. Also, I think he's too sensitive. I thought the same about Ben F and his season was a disaster. So he can just accept my rose and be done with it.

What do you guys think? Who are you rooting for? Will she pick one or is she too heartbroken over Brooks?

No spoilers, please.

Pimp My Profile

I had a busy weekend and I have an even busier week ahead of me, so I need some mind numbing activity this morning before I get going.

Cue my Googling "myspace survey" and picking a random one from a website called pimp my profile.

1. What was the last TV show you watched? Bar Rescue. I watched about 12 episodes yesterday.
2. What was the last alcoholic beverage you consumed? A fireball shot.

3. Have you ever lied to get out of a date or relationship? A date, yes. "I'm sorry, I have to wash my hair that night."
4. Have you ever been in the back of a police car? Yes. Story here.
5. What do you normally order in a bar/pub? Miller Lite or Tito's & Water (no lime).
6. What is your usual everyday dress code? I wear dresses most days.
7. Do you lift weights? On occasion.
8. Sherlock or Doctor Who? Elementary.
9. Glitter or feathers? Feathers. Wild Feathers.
10. What countries have you been to? Just the USA. (for now)
11. How much sleep do you get per night? Too much. Around 9 hours.
12. What is your favourite type of cake? Cheesecake. Which is really more like pie.
13. Who was the last celebrity you spoke to and what did you say? The last celebrity I spoke to...I guess it was when I danced with Mark Conseulos after hanging out with his wife, Kelly Ripa, and Ellen Barkin.

14. Do you get starstruck? No. We're all people.
15. Who was your favourite author as a child? Madeleine L'Engle or Lois Lowry.

Tuesday Tidbits

I don't know why Monday gets all the flak. Tuesdays are the worst. At least on Monday, you can think back to the weekend. By Tuesday, the previous weekend is far gone and the next is far away.

+ I didn't post a weekend update yesterday, but I spent the weekend in Dallas
Good bits: John Mayer concert, Taco Bueno, good times with friends.
Bad bits: Car claustrophobia, traffic, witnessed two crimes.
Read Rachel's longer version of the weekend here.

+ I haven't posted about the Bachelorette in a while because it was pretty evident that Brooks, Chris, and Drew would be the final 3. The "most dramatic" season ever has actually been quite boring. There was the Ben drama and then the James drama, but that's it. Plus, we all know she's gonna end up with Chris. And I'll step in to take care of Drew after she breaks his heart.

+ We have a winner!

Congratulations, Molly! I will be emailing you!

+ If you aren't Molly, don't worry. You can pre-order The Wild Feathers album here!

+ I am currently jamming to Skrillex in my office to make it through this Tuesday. How are you coping?

First Hand Advice

I am the advice giver in my group of friends. Everyone comes to me for sound and practical advice. Even when it comes to dating. And I haven't been in a serious relationship in over three years. (Wow. That sucks.)

Most of the advice I offer is based on what I would do or what I think should be done. Most of it is not from first hand experience. But. I do have some life experiences that have equipped me with good advice. Here are a few pieces of wisdom.

+ Don't give a third chance to someone who didn't deserve the first two. Because he's probably still talking to the Catfish person on Facebook that he's never actually met.

+ Don't give a stubborn girl advice about who not to date because that will make her want to date them more. (See above.) However, you may feed her as many I Told You So's as you wish. Because you did. You did tell her so.

+ Always have a bottle of wine on your shelf, a few beers in the fridge, and a bottle of Fireball in your freezer.
Different moods call for different booze.

+ If you like vodka, drink Tito's.

+ But don't order that third Tito's and water. Switch to beer. Or go home.

+ If you want to be considered a friend (and not just a fan or God forbid a groupie) and you're hanging out with someone in a band...don't let your phone ring out with their song as your ringtone. It could get embarrassing.

+ If a blog is offering a badass giveaway, enter it. You might just win! (Seriously, enter my giveaway.)

What advice have you learned the hard way?

Okay, guys. It's about time for a giveaway, don't you think?

You know that feeling you get when you discover a new band and you want to share them with EVERYONE? (Is that just me?) Well, I got that feeling in February when I first saw a new band, kind of by accident.

Here's how it went. My friends dragged me out of bed to attend a show at a local bar. I didn't want to go because I was sick, but they forced me. I felt awful and almost left before the show even started. And then I saw this really cute guy standing at the bar so I decided to stay. (Because that's what I do.)

A while later, cute guy got on the stage. I assumed he was helping out with equipment for the band we came to see. The ticket didn't mention an opening band, so we weren't expecting one. And then he started singing. And we were pleasantly surprised.

The Wild Feathers rocked the house. I was ten times more impressed with them than with the band I actually expected to see that night. Since that night, I've seen them 5 more times. And I guess you could say I've become friends with them. Not only are they the best band I've come across in years (the last time I was this excited about a band was when I first heard Band of Horses in 2008), they are some of the coolest guys to hang out with.

Their first album (self-titled) is set to release August 6. But I'm giving away a copy today. And not just any old autographed copy. And not just any old autographed autographed copy where Joel signed his name with a heart after I commented on how all of their autographs are just scribbles. Basically, it's a super special edition.
And you can have it!

Also? A $15 iTunes gift card. Use it to buy another copy of the album on August 6. Or use it to buy music from a new artist you've discovered so you can share them with your friends!

Enter below! Giveaway ends in one week.

10 Day Cleanse: Results

I participated in a group AdvoCare 10 Day Cleanse challenge last month. If you haven't heard of AdvoCare, it's a health and wellness company that offers weight loss and nutrition products.

From June 10-19, I cut out dairy, sugar, refined or white flour/rice, fried food, processed food, and alcohol. Yes, alcohol. My usual diet isn't much different from what I ate. Lots of chicken, salmon, salads, fruits and veggies. Then I added in the fiber drink and herbal supplements that are included with the cleanse.

I didn't have trouble with any of it. Well, except the no alcohol rule. That was a little tough. But other than that, it was a breeze.

In the end, I only lost four pounds. But hey, I lost four pounds! And it felt/looked like more than that. (Especially in my face, arms, and waist.) The day after the cleanse ended, I ordered cheesy rice from a Mexican restaurant in town. I only ate a third of it before I was painfully full. It has now been two weeks since I completed the cleanse, but I still see a big difference in the portion sizes I can eat and the way my clothes fit.

For reference, here's a picture from a couple weeks before the cleanse and a couple weeks after.

(I don't regularly snap bikini pictures, so this is what you get.)

I still want to lose about 15-20 more pounds. The AdvoCare cleanse was a very helpful start in that. I couldn't live the AdvoCare lifestyle constantly. No cheese? No booze? What kind of life is that? But I would definitely recommend the cleanse to anyone who wants a jump start on a diet plan. You can order AdvoCare products here!

Of my five goals for June, I completed just one. Our Leadership project isn't finished, but we still have another month and it's mostly there. I did declutter things a bit, but then I cluttered them right back up. My two personal goals were both failures, but we won't get into that. The only goal I accomplished was losing 3 pounds, and I lost 5. (I'm down 12 for the year.)

1. Perfect a new recipe

2. Read a book

3. Yoga 2x/week

4. Walks

5. Lose 3 pounds

My "specialty" dish is chicken spaghetti. Everyone loves it and I make it all the time. So much so, that I'm getting tired of it. I need to find a new signature dish.

I reread two books in May, but haven't picked one up since. What should I read?

I used to do yoga once a week, but then I stopped. It's so relaxing and I need some relaxation this month. I'll be going to classes or doing yoga DVDs at least twice a week during July.

I have an active puppy that is cooped up in a medium sized fenced in back yard. He needs to roam. And I need activity. We'll be going on walks in the park or around the neighborhood at least once a week.

Goals 3 and 4 will help with the losing 3 pounds, I hope.

Are you still working to reach your 2013 goals?

Weekend Review

I usually post my goals for the month (and how I fared on my goals in the previous month) on the 1st, but I'll be holding off on those until tomorrow. Partially because I haven't decided on all of them. Instead, you get a recap of my busy busy weekend.

I took off work Thursday and spent the day at the pool.

Friday, I hopped in the car with Morgan and we drove to St. Louis to visit a friend and see our favorite band / favorite guys. We got a lot of "You're driving all the way to St. Louis to see a band? I've never even heard of them." To which I responded, "Oh, you will soon. And also, you must not be reading my blog if you've never heard of them."

The Wild Feathers. I've mentioned them a few times before. They were the first write up on my extremely neglected music blog. I've seen them six times now. They're so fun to see live and even more fun to hang out with.

And I have a little secret to share with you from my night with The Wild Feathers...

I walked away with an autographed advanced copy of their album (that comes out August 6) and will be giving it to one of you soon! Who wants it?

Saturday, Morgan and I sleepily drove back to Oxford to celebrate with this lady who just got engaged. Maybe she'll remember she has a blog now.

Sunday, we grilled burgers and drank beers and I fell asleep during The Dark Knight Rises, so I have no clue how it ends. I'm guessing that the dark knight...rises?

I've never been so excited to see a Monday. I need some rest at work to recover from my busy weekend.

How was yours?

Coming this week: July goals, AdvoCare 10 Day Cleanse Results, and maybe a confess sesh.
