New Venture

On Monday, April 1, I will be launching my new blog. I have thought about this for quite some time, but it wasn't until I had a lengthy conversation at a concert that I finally decided to do it. Posts will be published in addition to (not in place of) Faye'sbook. This is my lifestyle blog and I'm not changing that anytime soon.

But if you like me or you like music (or both) check out

on April 1.

I will be updating weekly about bands and concerts and musicians and playlists. Basically, everything music. It should be interesting because the only thing I know about music is that I love it.

Notes

Facebook recently updated its layout, if you noticed.

The best thing about it? I rediscovered Notes. And let me tell you...2009 Faye LOVED some notes. Surveys everywhere. "Put your phone on shuffle and the song titles are the answers to these questions." ABC questions. Questions that come in threes. "List the last 20 people who wrote on your wall and answer these questions accordingly."

Wowza.

Tuesday Tidbits

Because I was off work yesterday and am off work Friday, today is the first in a 3 day work week for me.

- I saw this man in concert Sunday night and my life is forever changed.
This was devastating but I'm still proud.
- I am going to this store on my lunch break to buy this album and this store to buy this book.
- This show is back for season two next week and I can't wait.
- I have lots of pregnant friends and am obsessed with this shop.

Short week = short posts.

Happy Tuesday!

Guacamole

If I could only eat one food for the rest of my life, it would be avocados.
Hopefully I'd be able to mix in some onions, tomatoes, garlic, lime, and spices.

I make the best guac. Seriously, ask anyone who's tasted it. And now you can make it, too.

You'll need all this:

6 avocados
4 roma tomatoes (seeded and chopped)
1 medium onion (chopped)
2 cloves garlic (minced)
juice of 1 lime
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp cayenne
1/2 tsp turmeric
*This makes a "double recipe" but I've never
made any less than this. It's too good.

Juice one lime. Halve, pit, and peel 6 avocados. Dip all but one avocado half into the lime juice and place them into a bowl. Add in the garlic. Using a potato masher (or an avocado tool), start mashing. Add in the spices (salt, cumin, cayenne, turmeric) and finish mashing. Make sure the spices have combined evenly with the avocado mush (soon to be guac). Fold in tomatoes and onion. Then, take that lone avocado half and cut it into cubes/chunks. Fold those in, as well. Stir in about a tablespoon of the lime juice and voila! You now have the best guacamole ever. Enjoy!

This recipe was based off of Alton Brown's not as good guacamole. (I hate cilantro.)

Constant Conversations

I've done a poor job at keeping up with funny conversations (like I shared here). You really can't blame me, though, because most of these conversations occur between the hours of 10pm and 2am and between the drinks of 3 and infinity. However, here are a few that I've remembered to jot down.

[Discussing an upcoming concert with my mom]

Mother: What do people wear to concerts these days? The last time I saw live music, I was wearing bell bottoms and a crop top.
Me: Umm, well. Not that.

[Talking to Rachel about the guy I've been hanging out with]

Me: I think I like [guy I've been casually seeing for a few months].
Rach: I think you do, too.
Me: Well, except for [list of things that I don't like, which turned out to be longer than expected].
Rach: So what DO you like?
Me: The way he looks at me.
Rach: WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH FAYE?
Me: [alien face emoji]

[After showing that guy I've been hanging out with something that is labeled "Walter"]

Guy: So who's Walter?
Me: Umm that's my last name.
Guy: Oh, I didn't know that.

[Discussing the GIRLS season finale with my bff, SPOILERish]

Me: ADAM.
Me: I loved that episode.
Brad: I did too. I just hated Hannah.
Me: I've always kinda hated Hannah. Cause she reminds me of a very extreme version of myself. But that's also why I like her. Because I hate her.
Brad: That's me with Marnie.
Me: My sister is Marnie, too.
Brad: Charlie became everything she wanted him to be AFTER a tumultuous break up. So naturally she wants him back.
Me: Naturally.

Marshall Madness

Well well well. My Ole Miss Rebels have done it. We're SEC champs and in the NCAAT.

Yesterday was a great day to be a Rebel. I mean, every day is but yesterday was green golden.

I drank green beer and watched the Ole Miss Rebel basketball team beat Florida 66-63 to win the SEC championship. Then I drank more green beer and watched the Ole Miss Rebel baseball team win the series against Arkansas with a 6-4 win in the thirteenth inning. Then I drank more green beer and went to the Tad Pad to welcome the basketball team and watch the NCAAT selection announcement. We will be playing Wisconsin on Friday. I'll be boycotting cheese until then. And badgers.

Oh, and now my crush on Marshall Henderson is 60% basketball (hello SEC Championship MVP)
and 40% that he reminds me of my high school boyfriend.

I'd let him feed me strawberries. That's all I'm sayin'.

Bloglovin?

I never used Google Reader, so when everyone freaked out about it yesterday...I didn't care. I just read my blogs straight from Blogger. That's not the same thing as Google Reader, right?

But then one of the freak out posts mentioned that Google Friend Connect was going away with Google Reader (because Google is trying to make Google+ happen).

Sorry Google, it's not going to happen.

And that's why I've jumped on the Bloglovin bandwagon. It will be nice to switch to a new platform for a fresh start. I didn't import my information into Bloglovin because there were so many blogs that I never actually read. I started fresh and only followed the ones that I do read. I suggest you do the same. As long as I'm one of em.

Throwback Thursday

Do you remember when you had a Spring Break? Does it seem as long ago for you as it does for me? Maybe it isn't even as noticeable for you...but I work in a college town. Everyone is gone. And I'm here.

I want to be on the beach. Like I was for Spring Break 2007.

It was my freshman year of college and we were all irresponsible messes.

We packed about 15 people into two rooms at the Holiday Inn. One girl's boyfriend stole her car and wrecked it. I was out of commission for a whole day after drinking a water bottle full of not water before 9am. My ex boyfriend came down to surprise me merely hours before the new boy I had started seeing was supposed to show up. Ex boyfriend and I got back together and I left two days early.

Oh, and I wore purple and silver eyeshadow?

Okay, so maybe I don't want to go on Spring Break again. But I would like to have a week off work spent on the beach with friends. Let's do it.

Faye'sbook: An Open Book

I'm an open book. I say what I think...in life and on this lifestyle blog. That is what I'm writing here, isn't it? I've never labeled myself as a certain type of blogger, but I figure lifestyle is the loosest label. After all, I do write about my life. The good, the bad, and the awkward. (And we all know, I'm not a fashion blogger.)

I don't write anything here out of malice. I write for entertainment. My own entertainment.

"Better to write for yourself and have no public, than to write for the public and have no self." - Cyril Connolly

I've been thinking about this a lot lately. Well, ever since a mutual friend showed this guy my blog. I was iffy about starting The Dating Diaries series for that very reason. I once said (here) that I would never do it. But I did. And I don't regret it. It's all in good humor.

That cab ride happened four months ago. I was upset and angry for a while.
the night has since been deemed "SobFest 2012"
But I got over it. Because that's what you do. We spoke for the first time this weekend. Though it wasn't a lengthy conversation and no apologies were given by either side, it reminded me that shit happens. This is life. And you have to move on from it.

I'm pretty sure he's seeing someone now. And I've got a similar situation that will likely have the same end result.
We never learn, do we?

Obsession Confession

Forgive me, Father, for I'm obsessed.

[1]
Since I began watching SOA, I've become obsessed. I watch it at work (don't tell), I watch it at home, I even watched an episode on my iPhone. I'm in season 3 right now and have come across a few things that spoiled surprises for me...because I can't stop myself from Googling "Sons of Anarchy" every 5 minutes. Yesterday, as part of my Leadership program, we toured the County Jail and spoke with an ATF agent. I was in heaven.

[2]
I'm going to see The Wild Feathers tonight. It will be the third time I've seen them in concert in 22 days. I think I have a problem with obsession.

[3]
A few days ago, my GBF called and told me Macklemore & Ryan Lewis would be in Springfield, MO next month. It's about 7 hours away from me and 7 hours away from him. We didn't think twice about it. And just as he was about to book our hotel, we got the updated list of Hangout Fest artists. Which include Macklemore & Ryan Lewis...and The Wild Feathers. Thank you, Hangout, for saving me from an unnecessary trip...and for feeding my obsession.

[4]
I bought a new shirt last week and have worn it three times since because I like it so much. (Obsession.)

[5]
You know what I'm also obsessed with? You and your comments!

Have a great weekend! Link up here.

Faye Tells All

Don't be fooled. This has nothing to do with last night's Bachelor: Women Tell All. I haven't watched it yet, but I'm sure it can be described in one word: DRAMA. But you know what can't be described in one word? Me. So I'll use the whole alphabet. (courtesy of MoM)

Available or married?
I'm single, but not necessarily available. I like things the way they are right now.

I have a 19 month old baby named Mosby.

March

Another month gone and only one goal fully accomplished.

I had one sip of beer on Fat Tuesday. I immediately regretted it because I wanted to succeed with the no beer goal so badly. But that one sip was my only slip. (SO glad that's over. I had a Strawberry Abita for breakfast this morning.) I failed horribly on reading my devotional daily until mid-month when I downloaded the app for the devotional I have. The book is on my nightstand, but I didn't get into the routine of reading it daily until it was on my phone. That's sad. I didn't complete any of the home improvement projects, but I have scheduled them / secured a boy to help me. I didn't sell my Land Rover, either. (Didn't even try.) The one goal I did complete...losing one pound. Except I acutally lost 5 pounds. And then gained 1 back. Which puts me at 4 for the month and 5 for the year.

And now it's a new month.

1. Sell Land Rover

2. Watch 5 movies

3. Gather clothes for consignment

4. Transfer music to new computer

5. Lose 1 pound

Since I didn't do it last month. Gotta get rid of that thing!

There are so many "classic" movies that I haven't seen. The Godfather, The Shawshank Redemption, The Godfather Part II, Schindler's List. I need to experience these movies that everyone else in the world has seen. Or maybe I'll just indulge in newer movies that I want to see like Identity Thief and Side Effects. Either way, I'm watchin' 5.

The Oxford Consignment Sale is coming up and I have about 50 (no exaggeration) dresses that I never wear. Time to make some money, honey. So I can buy more dresses that I won't wear, of course.

I never use my PC now that I got a Mac for work. That also means I never sync my iPhone. I want to transfer all of my music to the computer I actually use so that everything is in one place.

Get used to it. This goal is here to stay.

What's happening with your 2013 goals?
